It’s been a while since I wrote about a beer on here so decided to share about this one. Old Rasputin Russian imperial stout.
This drink is pretty strong but goes down really well. This beer is modeled after old Russian Stout beers that were commonly consumed in Russia. It has a much higher alcohol content than normal beers ( 9%) and this is due to the brewing process. In the old days, this beer had to be transported from Russia in freezing temperatures and the higher alcohol content kept it from freezing. This type of beer was commonly consumed by monks to help keep them nourished during fasts.
I’d recommend giving it a try and you can read some reviews about this particular brew here: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/112/412 .

I use Nginx alot so I threw together a simple script that will build a Vhost on a Ubuntu stock Nginx install.
To use it all you need to do is download it via wget:
wget
http://dev.larmeir.com/scripts/nginxvhost_current.sh
Make it executable:
chmod +x nginxvhost_current.sh
The run it:
sh nginxvhost_current.sh
It will prompt you for a domain name so enter it and that’s it!
This script was primarily built for WordPress sites and includes WordPress clean URL support. You can easily disable this though by going to the vhost in ./etc/sites/enabled and commenting out the lines under #Wordpress Rewrites.
Hopefully this script is useful for someone other than myself!
Having grown up in Lake Dallas Texas, I grew up hearing of legends about the old Alton bridge constantly – These legends had been around forever and deviated from person to person but there was one thing that was consistent, Goatman’s bridge is a scary place. The history of this bridge is as old as Denton county itself, as the old town of Alton originally resided nearby and it was the original seat of Denton County. Indians, outlaws and settlers alike frequented this area to get a drink from the main source of fresh water in the area, Hickory Creek. I’ve heard many stories of people going out there and disappearing with many of these stories being credible. The area itself had a unusually high fatality rate from what I can remember.
In high school, we all visited and hung out around the bridge – I remember specifically driving my 1 ton+ Lincoln Continental over the bridge and hearing it creak and moan haha. I always wondered if I’d make it to the other side!
For nostalgia purposes, here’s a quick little video on the history and legends surrounding the bridge:
Yesterday, I went fishing out there and decided to snap some photos. Below is a gallery of the bridge and surrounding trails – Enjoy!
